Being in a recession can really put a pinch in your lifestyle, especially if you LOVE to shop. But at the same time it can be a great time to embrace your inner frugal fashionista. Being short on cash makes doing things a lot more difficult, but it doesn't mean you can't still be beautiful. Not able to take that daily trip to the mall? Not able to just go and blow $100 on skincare? Problem solved!

Beauty on a budget to the rescue, so keep reading because I have some wonderful news for you. Let me introduce to you Argan Oil. This stuff is the best thing since buttered bread. I thought I nearly died and went to beauty heaven when I found this stuff. Then I wondered, 'How the heck have I been living without it?' My life consists of multi-tasking and this oil is a true multi-tasker. Argan oil can be used for everything. This legendary, lightweight oil, grown organically in Morocco, is rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids. Use it as a fast absorbing daily moisturizer, or to heal and condition everything from cuticles to split ends, it helps moisturize dry spots on skin, helps soothe burns, and helps with stretch marks. It can even help with acne. This stuff is AMAZING!!! It not only smells good but it is also good for you. You can even add it to food like salads, and couscous. It is literally the best thing since buttered bread. Trust me this stuff will change your whole beauty routine. It is a true gift from the beauty gods! Try it and let me know what you think. I look forward to your comments and the way that you use Argan Oil.

Now, I know what you are all thinking, Vaseline? Yes, that's right, Vaseline! You would be surprised at some of the healing properties of Petroleum Jelly and if you can't afford the amazing miracle oil offered by Josie Maran Cosmetics, you can definitely afford the cheaper version available to you by any local drugstore.

Today, Vaseline is found in nearly every medicine cabinet, glove compartment, purse, desk drawer, and emergency kit, nationwide. It is still used for cuts and scrapes, but over the years the list has grown by leaps and bounds.

Quick History: In the late 1800's, Petroleum Jelly in its raw form was a curse to U.S. oil drillers. It had paraffin like consistency that stuck to the shaft of their rigs and caused them to seize up. The chemist, Robert Cheseborough created a gel by distilling thin oil rendered from the raw material the drillers liked to call "rod wax." With that in hand, in 1870 Cheeseborough opened his first factory in Brooklyn, New York, under the brand name, "Vaseline" as an ointment for skin injuries. Today it is still used for that and much more!

Some of the many beauty uses for Petroleum Jelly include:

Use When Coloring Hair:
To keep hair color from staining your skin, apply Petroleum Jelly along hairline and ears before you begin.

Cuts and Sores:
When Petroleum Jelly first hit the market, its purpose was for protecting cuts and scrapes by acting as a barrier to keep out moisture and bacteria, which is still does to this day.

Moisturizer:
If you have sensitive skin, Petroleum Jelly can be used as an all over body moisturizer. It contains no chemicals or perfumes.

Nail Polish Removal:
Rub Petroleum Jelly on the skin around your nails before polishing. If you make a mistake it can be wiped off when your nails are dry and it softens cuticles at the same time.

Let me know about some of your uses for petroleum jelly . . . looking forward to hearing from you!

Antonia, Lisa, and Tanya, I appreciate that you guys are enjoying the blog and that you will spread the word. I can honestly say that the Argan Oil is AMAZING!!! They sell it on Sephora.com for around $15.00 for 1oz i think and for the big one its $40, but the 1 oz bottle should last your for a while, cause really a little drop will go a long way. Hope it helps... xoxo- jamie P.S.: Enter the contest the Sigma stuff is GREAT!!! Just a side not the Argan oil is 100% organic, and keep posted gonna do a huge review on the Argan Hair Serum soon that is coming soon....

Hey Prince, I have read that Vaseline also clogs your pores, but truth to matter is that there is no evidence that it does. They say that the mineral oil in is what clogs pores. I personally have vaseline around my eye area to seal in my nighttime eye cream, and have had no problems with it. (going on about 5 years now), but i think everyone is different and many people react to things dfifferently. But i am a firm believer in what works for you is what you should use. How this helps.. xoxo-jamie P.S: A brand called Alba also has a unpetroleum jelly on drugstore.com that is about $5.00 maybe and it doesnt contain mineral oil, so you can use it if you have sensitive skin.

I am going to check online for the Argon Oil, I am interested in trying it for sure. Although I like Vaseline, I am trying to get away from using it so much, so the Argon Oil is going to be a great Alternative for me.

I just wanted to tell Jamie, thank you for enlightening others about the effects of Vaseline, I have been a fan of Vaseline for years. But I heard several bad things about it too, for example, that it clogs up your pores and that it's too thick to use as a part of a Beauty Regime. Would you agree with that? I personally like it, but let me know what you think.
